Logotype - Munken

General

The logotype is one of the most important elements in the visual appearance of a brand. As a distinctive, always present sign, it is the sender’s identification, signature and reminder in one.

 

When to use

Product brand logotype

  • Direct marketing tools.
  • Material for one product brand.
  • Product-specific ads.

 

Corporate brand logotype

  • Sender for Company ads.
  • Packaging for direct marketing, swatches, etc.
  • Material for more than one brand.
  • In case of sponsoring.
  • Unit-specific (Sales Office, Mill, Headquarter) material.

 

Note: Never use product brand logotypes and corporate brand logotype together.

Standard logotype

The Munken Logotype can be used in a vertical version and in a horizontal version. These two layouts are preferred, see below for other variations if these two aren’t applicable.

 

Every application of a logo variation is to be clarified with the Munken marketing team.

Logotype clear space

To ensure prominence and legibility, the Munken logotype is always surrounded by an area of clear space which remains free of other elements such as typography and other graphical elements.

 

The minimum area of clear space is illustrated here by a rectangular box containing the Munken logo​type. Its construction is based on the height of the letter “M”.

Minimum logotype size

The logotype should not be smaller than the minimum size of 5 mm (height of picture mark). The vertical logotype should not be smaller that 12.2 mm. This minimum size has been determined to ensure maximum clarity and legibility for small applications.

Negative logotype

Negative logotype is to be used with uniformly coloured backgrounds or on dark images, where the black version is not suitable.

Space variation

The Munken picture and word mark can be separated from each other, but need to adhere to the following guideline. The Munken picture mark can only be moved on the x and y-axis. The distance between the picture mark and the word mark has to be at least one “Munken”.


When logotype variations are used, the size of the Munken picture mark needs to be increased by 125%.

Picture mark

In some cases, the picture mark can be used individually as an ornament.

As an exception, the word mark may be used on its own.

Logotype and URL

Whenever arcticpaper.com needs to be combined with the logo, the vertical logotype is to be used. Arcticpaper.com is written in Munken Sans book. When the logo is used in 100%, the font size is 7 pt with spacing 40. The adjusted clear space needs to be respected.
